Game 2: Lebron Drops 40, Jamario Does Work: Cavs Win 112-102

Dear Joakim, I speak for the city of Cleveland when I say you are not welcome here.  You proclaimed, “Cleveland sucks.. there’s nothing to do here.”  Coming from the single ugliest player in the Association, we take that as a compliment.  Didn’t you sign a multi-million dollar contract?  You have some money, so fix the gap in your teeth before you talk about my city again.

That being said, let’s talk Game 2.  The game started off with Shaq fouling Noah, and then Antawn committing an offensive foul.  Not exactly the start we were looking for.  Then Shaq comes down, draws an easy foul and makes both of his free throws, much to the delight of the best crowd in the NBA.  At one point Shaq elbows Noah in the face, and Noah gets called for the foul.  Karma’s great.

LeBron starts off in assist-mode, hooking up Antawn for some easy buckets including a nice baseline dunk.  Anthony Parker starts stroking some 3′s, and we instantly feel

Adds a new chapter in the transfer drama Nuggets

Guarding Michael Jordan during a playoff game intimidates some players. It inspired John Starks. Crushing Chicago’s spirit with his 3-point shooting and giving Jordan fits with his defense, Starks led New York to a 98-90 victory in Game 1 of the Eastern Conference championship series yesterday afternoon at Madison Square Garden. It was a significant victory for the Knicks, who were determined not to lose the home-court advantage they had worked all season to attain. They won their 26th consecutive home game using the same formula that has worked all season — suffocating defense, dominating rebounding and timely shooting. Jordan (27 points) shot a dismal 10 for 27 from the field, including 2 for 9 during the final period, the time when Jordan usually dominates. It was also a significant defeat for Chicago, which had won seven straight playoff games this season. Starks (25 points) was magnificent, setting a Knick playoff record by making five 3-point shots. Three of them came during a five-minute fourth-quarter barrage that helped the Knicks build an 88-79 lead with four minutes to play, a lead they never lost. Everyone expected the Starks-versus-Jordan battle to be a major factor in the series. Round 1 went to Starks. “I don’t even remember when Starks was in the CBA, and I don’t remember when he first came into the league,” said Jordan, referring to the minor league Continental Basketball Association. “But I know he’s here now.” And Starks had plenty of help. Top 10 Dumbest Things Pro Athletes Do

There seems to be an endless stream of idiotic things professional athletes do. I guess if you put a bunch of young men together, give them a boat-load of money and lots of free time, what can you expect? When beautiful women, the media and the luxuries of life are thrown at them, their cockiness and stupidity are only amplified. Here are my top ten, but of course there are lots more. However, we must always remember, they are only human too.

1. Me Make Good Play!
Ever see NFL players beat their chest like a gorilla after they just made a good play? I guess it’s a Tarzan thing or something, but they look kinda ridiculous. Maybe if I was out there on the field and I was a 170-pound kicker watching a defensive lineman beating his chest after a sack, I may be a little intimidated, but overall, they look really silly doing it. (I attended a professional all-women’s football game this year and saw a 350-pound woman do this, which was particularly

Basketball History

The father of basketball, Dr. James Naismith came up with the game in 1892 and the first game was played in Beaver Falls Pennsylvania on April 8 1893 between the New Brighton YMCA and the Geneva College.
The game was very popular and by 1914 as many as 360 colleges boasted basketball teams. In 1939, the first NCAA Men’s College Basketball Championship tournament was held which was won by the University of Oregon.

The formation of Pro basketball in 1896 came about from a dispute between YMCA team members and officials and ended in the members forming a professional team that played for money. In 1898, the NBL (National Basketball League) was formed and produced the first basketball stars – Ed Wachter and Barney Sedran.

The first two professional basketball teams to achieve success were the Buffalo Germans and the Celtics but during the 1930′s favorites included the New York Renaissance and the Harlem Globetrotters. During this time, womens

TEAM RECORD UNDER 500–NO PROBLEM IN THE NBA

In the NHL, where like the NBA a little over 50% of the teams go to the playoffs; clubs with losing records don’t come close to competing for Lord Stanley’s Cup.

This year in the NFL, where even the Wild Card teams sported a .688 winning percentage, the Kansas City Chiefs were left out of the post-season tournament after going 10-6 (.625). Major League Baseball saw the San Diego Padres win their division and earn a 2005 playoff berth with a .506 winning mark, but they were an anomaly. This season all other MLB playoff teams won 90 or more of the 162 games they played. Over the past five years 98% of the baseball teams that have been playoff bound have won 90 (.556) or more games and none have had losing records. The NBA is different.

In the 2003-04 NBA Playoffs four of the eight Eastern Conference teams that had the honor of making the second season earned records of .500 or below. In the Atlantic Division, the 8th seed Boston

Teams And Players Who Made Pro Basketball History

The pro basketball history in the US can be traced to a game played at the YMCA in Trenton, New Jersey, in 1896. This was the fallout of a dispute between members of the YMCA team and a YMCA official. The angry players formed a professional team and played for money. Two years later a group of New Jersey newspaper sports editors founded the National Basketball League (NBL). The stars of this league were Ed Wachter and Barney Sedran.

The first two successful professional teams of the twentieth century were the Buffalo Germans and the Original Celtics, and the first major national professional league was the American Basketball League. The New York Renaissance, also known as the Rens, and the Harlem Globetrotters were the most successful teams of the 30s. Both incidentally were all-black teams. The top women players of this era were Babe Didrikson, Alline Banks Sprouse, and Nera White.

The late 1940s and early 1950s saw the domination of the Minneapolis

Basketball Hoop Dreams Hoopla

Basketball bears a distant resemblance to it’s early days, when the basketball net wasn’t a net at all but a peach basket. Apparently James Naismith the inventor of basketball, had a keen intuition for sports, but not quite so keen on physics. The obvious problem with the impromptu basketball net, was that there was no hole in the bottom for the basket ball to fall through. I sure we’ve all seen the commercial where one of the players has to climb up the ladder to retrieve the basketball after each score. The brilliant solution by Mr Naismith, was of course to cut a hole in the bottom of the basket. Seems like an obvious solution to those of us versed in the modern game of basketball, but wait the punch line is yet to come. The hole they cut, wasn’t big enough for the basketball to fall through. It was however, big enough for a person standing on the floor to poke a broom handle through and push the basketball ball back up through the top. Funny how the

Three On Three The Solution

Three On Three The Solution

You like playing basketball, right? Yes you do. On the other hand you are not young any more (this phrase is applicable to people from 19 to 80) and you do not feel capable of running up and down the full court. It is difficult to find nine players and to play five on five. You do not have a basketball court with the official size close to your place and the last time you played, Michael Jordan was still with Chicago Bulls. Now you are really disappointed and you feel that the only thing you have among the ones needed for a good game is a ball, and you are not really sure if it is in the attic, the garage or the trash can. So, are you going to sit on your couch and watch Dwayne Wade playing against Dirk Nowitzki? Or are you going to play a basketball game on play station? I thought you said that you like playing basketball not watching it on TV.

If there is just one single basket in your neighborhood you don’t have to be neither disappointed nor lazy.
