The Legacy Of Michael Jordan

Although he has been retired for several years now, Michael Jordan is still widely regarded as the greatest basketball player to ever play the game. His influence was felt not only in the way the game was played, but also in how it was perceived around the world. Ultimately, his excellence at his sport was instrumental in catapulting the popularity of basketball and the National Basketball Association all over the world during the eighties and nineties. Beyond all this, Jordan was also a marketing force and was hands-down the most successfully marketed athlete of his generation and, possibly, all time. In 1999, Jordan was named by ESPN as “the greatest athlete of the 20th century.”

Jordan retired from the NBA after 15 seasons, during which he established a number of prestigious records. His 30.12 points per game average is the highest ever in NBA history. He also won six NBA titles with the Chicago Bulls and was the MVP of the NBA Finals every time

Pau Gasol Remains a Grizzly

In fact Heisley’s exact words were, “There’s no damn way that anybody is going to trade Pau Gasol,” “I’m telling you that ain’t going to happen. That’s out the window.”

Apparently the Boston Celtics and the Chicago Bulls are two of the teams that are believed to have interest in getting Gasol to play for their team.

Gasol also admits that his name has appeared several times in the paper but that he is not worried about the matter at this time. He is recently recovering from foot surgery and expected to return by the end of the year.

The Grizzlies are not doing to well without their lead player, Gasol, and have a record so far of 4-10 and currently sit at the fifth place of the southwest, however, last Tuesday night the team beat the Denver Nuggets with a score of 108-96 and are expected to play the Miami Heat next Saturday the 2nd of December, which more than likely will be a hard game for them to win.

Nba Coach Jerry Sloan Wins Game Number 1,000!

The 64 year-old and two-time NBA All Star, when he was a player, started his coaching career back in 1979 with the Chicago Bulls and has already completed 18 seasons. Jerry Sloan has been with the Utah Jazz since the 1988 season.

Since the start of his long and fulfilled profession he has done nothing but achieve great triumphs; there is a long list of accomplishments acquired which accompany his forty-year career. Few of his many attainments include having the 11th best winning percentage in the History of NBA, 5 Midwest Division Titles. He was NBA Head Coach of the Year for the 2003-04 season and he is one of only two coaches to have 10 straight winning seasons with the same team. These are only some examples from his successful career as coach and player.

Last night he was cheered by the crowd and even received a standing ovation. Although not many get as far as he has, Sloan seemed to be very calm and was happier about winning

Manifesto Destiny: the Gentleman?s Club

Manifesto Destiny: The Gentleman’s Club

This Decade so far has been a compendium of bad things: Horrible Natural and Terrorist disasters, astronomical oil prices (which I have made Money from because I know how to trade commodities), a war in the Middle East with the wrong Arabs, the male race turning into whining/ complainers, people not respecting their elders, people believing that White Trash is “cool”, messy hair being fashionable, Hip Hop culture morphing into materialistic crap for suburban white kids, the corporatization of what was once hip, people protesting restaurants serving foie gras, the persecution of smoking indoors, Reality TV.

The one thing that has stayed relatively unchanged thru the decade is the value of Gentleman’s Clubs. Although they have been cracked down on a little, they are still as relevant as ever. Today’s Manifesto Tip, is Beginner Concepts to making these joints pay for themselves. And pay

Miami Heat – The Early Years

During the boom period of the NBA of the 1980s the league sought to expand itself from 23 teams to 26 by the end of the decade. In Florida, a state devoid of any NBA franchises, groups from Orlando, Tampa/St. Petersburg and Miami all vied to land franchises.

The Miami Sports and Exhibition Authority eventually endorsed a group led by NBA Hall of Famer Billy Cunningham and former sports agent (and lifelong friend of Cunningham’s) Lewis Schaffel, who received their financial backing from Carnival Cruise Lines tycoon Ted Arison, who would be the majority shareholder of a potential franchise but defer the day-to-day operations to minority shareholders Cunningham and Schaffel.

In April 1987, the NBA expansion committee endorsed the bids of the cities of Charlotte and Minneapolis. However, the committee was split between awarding the third and final franchise to Miami or Orlando, causing representatives from both cities to toss barbs at the

Magic Tickets ? Experience Basketball Like Never Before

The Orlando Magic with three other franchises entered the NBA in 1989. It was the first professional sports franchise in Orlando and was led by businessman Jimmy Hewitt and former Philadelphia 76ers General Manager Pat Williams. Matt Guokas was the team’s first coach. The team lost their first match with New Jersey Nets 111 – 106 on November 4, 1989 at the Orlando Arena (colloquially called as O-Rena). 2 days later, the Magic experienced their first victory against New York’s Knicks 118-110. The team showed their magic and Magic tickets became a rage.

1992 NBA draft changed the club’s history. The Magic selected Shaquille O’Neal from Louisiana State University, at the first overall pick. O’Neal being a big man, 7ft 1, in the center made a great impact on the team, leading it to a 41 – 41 record. Magic enjoyed the most improved franchise of NBA and O’Neal bagged an All-Star starter status with the 1992-93 NBA rookie of the year award.

How Michael Jordan Killed the Game

The most recognizable name in the history of basketball is Michael Jordan. There is not a corner of the world where the mention of “Michael” raises eyebrows. As much as Air Jordan has given to the game, is it possible that he is also responsible for killing the game?

Michael Jordan was cut from his team as a young player. From that day on he committed himself to be the best he could possibly be. The incomparable drive in Jordan is legendary. His ability to score, dunk, play defense, and win are unmatched. Of all of the traits he possesses, his competitive spirit may be his best attribute. Nothing gets in the way between Jordan and success.

When Michael Jordan hit his peak in the late 1980′s, it was obvious to the world that he would lead his Chicago Bulls to Celtic-like success. The result was an incredible 6 NBA titles under Coach Phil Jackson. Jordan, Scottie Pippen, Bill Cartwright, John Paxson, and Dennis Rodman represented an

Sports Memorabilia Products Used As Unique Gifts

There are many entertainment events that have collectibles pieces attached to them. These items can be from baseball, football, boxing events, or they could be for specific sporting events where championships were won. People love to give sports memorabilia as unique gifts for their family and friends at Christmas and other holidays throughout the year.

Some people choose sports memorabilia as unique gifts because their loved one is a great fan of equestrian jockey, Steve Cauthen. They go in search of items in sports memorabilia, and might find a Steve Cauthen Hand Signed 8 x 10 photographs that shows Affirmed winning the Preakness Stakes. To that particular horse racing fan this would be an excellent choice of sports memorabilia products used as unique gifts.

Some other sports memorabilia products used as unique gifts can be found for rare concert photographs for bands that have ended their careers. One of the nicer sports

Now That?s the Making of a Great Coach

Now That’s The Making of A Great Coach

Matt Fankhauser

Is athletic coaching and leadership coaching in the business world the same thing? It is this writer’s opinion that we can equate the value of team coaching to just about any corporate team. The role of a great leader is to be a great coach, change agent, and motivator. Many lessons parallel in both the business world and amateur and professional sports world. For example, tracking and measuring the results of the influence of a coach is when the time runs out, there is always a score to indicate whether the coaching and learning’s are transferring to results.

Many successful coaches have been noted in the sports world. John Wooden, a legend of the NCAA Basketball world, won ten National Championships during his reign at UCLA. Phil Jackson helped the Chicago Bulls to five NBA Championships and then led the Los Angeles Lakers to three. Bill Belichick
